Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) materials include those produced through nuclear fission or fusion, alongside other radioactive substances that can adversely affect human health. This category also encompasses biological agents capable of causing infections or diseases, as well as toxic chemicals that present poisoning risks, endangering both human life and the environment.
The Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD), in collaboration with the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Centre of Excellence Regional Secretariat, is organizing a two-day workshop that will bring together all relevant stakeholders for a national CBRN Team meeting in Seychelles. The objective of this meeting is to reestablish the Seychelles National CBRN Team and to review the Seychelles CBRN National Action Plan.
The National Team’s primary function is to facilitate discussions on CBRN matters with pertinent experts and to supervise the implementation of the Seychelles CBRN National Action Plan, which will act as the foundational document for CBRN efforts in Seychelles.
In fulfilling its duties, the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority works alongside various agencies to protect the marine environment, prevent vessel-related pollution, and respond to marine environmental emergencies. It also ensures adherence to international regulations regarding the management of hazardous materials, playing a vital role in CBRN management.
