From November 28–30, 2024, SMSA Chairperson Mrs. Aaishah Molle, Vice-Chairperson Colonel Jean Attala, and CEO Captain Daniel Adam represented Seychelles at the High-Level Meeting on the Djibouti Code of Conduct/Jeddah Amendment (DCoC/JA) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
This important meeting focused on:
▪ Reviewing the implementation of the DCoC/JA and addressing emerging challenges.
▪ Operationalizing the DCoC information-sharing network.
▪ Strengthening regional efforts against illegal maritime activities.
▪ Advancing capacity-building initiatives.
The meeting showcased progress made by Working Groups on information sharing and capacity-building, proposed sub-working groups, and coordinated with partners to align support with regional priorities outlined in the DCoC Capacity Building Coordination Matrix.
Discussions during the meeting and on the side-lines will significantly enhance the capacity of SMSA and local entities such as the National Information-Sharing and Coordination Centre (NISCC), strengthening maritime safety and security within Seychelles’ waters and the region.
